The Legislative Instruments Database (LID) web site (decommissioned on April 1, 2008) has been replaced by the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments web site. Your browser should automatically take you there in 10 seconds. If it doesn't then please go to www.frli.gov.au.
The Advanced Search facility offers a powerful way to search for documents containing specific information. Quick Search is easier to use because it converts your query into the complex notations used for an Advanced Search.
For more information about constructing advanced queries, consult the following pages:
- Advanced Searching - An introduction to complex queries;
- Query Language - Constructing queries for finding documents;
- Operators - A reference;
- Modifiers - A reference.
Advanced queries can be used when searching across the whole database (including electronic text where available) as well as searching individual fields or a combination of fields. As long as valid "Topic" search syntax is used it is possible to perform any search from the Advanced Search screen, including the use of operators such as "and", "or", "not", "near", and brackets to logically group search terms. Below is the syntax for the names of the index fields you will need to use when using the advanced search feature of this database.
Using advanced search enables you to sort the results a number of ways (by selecting a number of options from a pull down menu) and also permits you to specify the maximum number of instruments you wish to return in your result.
Name of field Advanced search syntax FRLI ID No. eg 1996A00001 frliidno Title of Instrument doc_name Title of Principal Instrument prin_inst Enabling Legislation enab_leg Enabling Provision enab_prov Description descript Date of Disallowance disallow Old Reference old_ref Number of pages of instrument doc_size Administering Department/Agency agency Determination Type det_type Date of Ceasing ces_date Reason for Ceasing ces_reas Parliamentary Scrutiny scrutiny Rectification Comments rectify Documents Incorporated by Reference docs_ref Date of Registration reg_date General Comments general Full Text Only body [NOTE: Where you do not specify a field or fields in the search, your search will search the entire index and all the electronic text (where provided).]
If an error occurs when performing your search, check the Error Messages page for a assistance.
