Quick Search FRLI Help Pages |
|
The Legislative Instruments Database (LID) web site (decommissioned on April 1, 2008) has been replaced by the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments web site. Your browser should automatically take you there in 10 seconds. If it doesn't then please go to www.frli.gov.au.
The Quick Search facility enables users to search across the whole of FRLI (which includes the FRLI Index and the full text of Instruments where available). Alternatively users can restrict a search to a specific field, or a combination of the two.
The index fields which can be searched are:
- Identifying Number
- Title of Instrument
- Title of Principal Instrument
- Enabling Legislation
- Enabling Provision
- Date of Registration
- Description
- Date of Ceasing
- Reason for Ceasing
- Date of Disallowance
- Old Reference
- Determination Type
- Size of Document
- Administering Department/Agency
- Documents Incorporated by Reference
- Parliamentary Scrutiny
- Rectification Comments
In addition the following search options are also available:
- Whole Document
- Full Text Only
[Note: If you select "Whole Document" you will search across the whole of FRLI (ie. both the index and full text where provided).
If you select "Full Text Only" you will search the full text of all instruments in the database where full text has been provided.]
Quick Search - Getting Started
To do a Quick Search, you should:
- Click on the Quick Search page.
- In the box labelled "Full text search" enter the word or phrase you want to search for, eg. "police", or "inspection charge act 1985" (note that capitals should not be used when entering your search strings).
- If you want to restrict your search to a specific field select the field from the pull-down menu to the right, eg. "Enabling Legislation", "Title of Instrument", "Title of Principal Instrument".
- If you want to search on a date, FRLI ID no. or size of an instrument select the field from the pull-down list labelled "Field Search". Then select the desired operator from the pull-down list to the right, and in the next box enter the date or value you want to retrieve for that field (for a range enter the start and end values in the two boxes respectively).
- You can combine the two types of searches. For instance, find instruments with "departure tax" in "Enabling Legislation" where the "Registration Date" is between "1/7/1996" and "31/12/1996".
- Click on "Search".
- If you want more options displayed, including multiple text fields separated by "and", "or", "not" or "near" operators, and Sort options click on the "More Options" button.
The search results will be a list of index entries found that satisfy the search term/s.
The search results page then allows you to view the index entries, electronic text (if available) and the scanned image (if an Image Viewer has been installed).
